Being an Only Child by Cyrah Francisco

To the people who have siblings and want to be only children, appreciate your siblings! It’s not much fun being an only child. You might even get spoiled, because you might get almost all you want! But you shouldn’t celebrate; you might get a bad attitude because of it. And if you have a bad attitude, people won’t like you, so you won’t have friends. (I’m not spoiled).

It sometimes feels sad to be an only child, but there are happy moments too. There are :-) and :-( times. Those sad times are when you can’t find someone to talk to or play with, with the painful thought that you would have been talking and playing hours or minutes ago if you just had a brother or a sister. And the happy times are when you would spend time with your family or do whatever you want or like. I had many experiences that made me sad and lonely because I didn’t have a brother or a sister, almost all my sad experiences are me being lonely. This is one of them…

One afternoon, it was raining, when a couple of days before, it was usually hot. I wasn’t allowed to go out because I’d get sick, of course. I had many board games to play with but the only problem was I didn’t have any one to play with. I soon figured out that the only way to pass the time without getting super bored is to sleep.

On the other hand, I had many experiences that made me happy too even if I didn’t have a brother or a sister. Almost all my happy moments are me spending time with my family, getting what I want or doing whatever I want. During Halloween, we checked in at Richmond Hotel. It was after the storm Ondoy. We went there to relax. We ate breakfast there, watched television, took bubble baths, and enjoyed the comforters. We stayed overnight there.

We smiled at the camera on the sofa in Richmond Hotel after we checked out. I tried to feed mom some ice cream but she took our picture instead, not minding the yummy ice cream I was giving her. I also tried making my dad taste the yummy ice cream but he said no too!

A message to the people who have sibling(s) and want to be Only Children: If you have a sibling or siblings and want to be an only child, be careful of what you wish for! You may get big allowance and all that, but, (as said on top), you might get a bad attitude without even knowing it. It may be cool or awesome or nice to have a big allowance, but it’s better to have friends to play with than no one.

Most people prefer to have dogs as their pets. I’m one of those people,
I’m a dog lover. My day is incomplete if I don’t play with my dog. Since I love dogs I researched on their beginnings. I found out that a dog is a carnivorous mammal belonging to the family Canidae. Ancestors of the modern domestic dog (Canis familiaris) ,probably derived from wolfs or jackals, were first domesticated over 10,000 years ago.

The intelligence and social nature of dogs have led to their selected breeding by man for a variety of purposes, principally as sporting dogs, working dogs, and ornamental breeds for household pets. There are up to 400 modern breeds and standards for over 100 recognized US breeds have been established.

My pet dog whom I named Blanca because she’s so furry and white is a cross between a Shih-Tzu and a Pekingese. She eats dog food but once in a while, I give her a little meat when she begs while I’m eating.

Blanca is a copy-cat. When I lie on my stomach on the carpet she does that also. When I study my lessons she would stand beside me stretching her neck as if she wants to see what I’m doing. She romps around when my brother and I play. In the morning, she’s the first one in the car when prepare to leave for school. She’s so cute and adorable.

There are times when my dog is in a bad mood. She whines when I get mad because she chewed on a shoe. She doesn’t eat when she feels bad especially if she has her period or if she’s sick. You can tell when your pet is happy because it wags its tail and is very playful. When it does not feel well, it droops its head and the tail points downwards.

While pet dogs are lovable, they can be a bit annoying, too. For instance, when my dog forgets its manners and leaves her mess in the living room or overturns her feeding dish or chews on shoes and doormats. But Blanca’s not like that most of the time. Maybe its only when she’s in a bad mood.

Dogs, when properly fed and loved, can be your protector. My dog barks a lot at strangers and I think that’s good. They say a dog is a man’s best friend. That is very true. My pet and I bond a lot. She sleeps in my room. Sometimes she gets into bed with me. My dog, Blanca is a faithful dog. I know that when I get into trouble or somebody would want to hurt me, she’ll be there to defend me.

Life as a dog owner does not ask for much. It’s the same as taking care of something very precious to you. As a dog owner, I am very concerned about my pet’s health and hygiene. My Blanca eats on time. I don’t feed her only once or twice a day like most dogs are fed. She eats three meals a day. I also give her milk. I check if she has enough water to drink. Blanca takes a bath three or four times a week. She goes to a dog clinic for grooming and check –up. Since she has long hair I tell my yaya to check every day if Blanca has fleas or ticks. So far, she never had any. I don’t tie her on a leash or put her inside a cage because I believe in freedom. I never get tired of taking care of Blanca because I love her.

Hi, I’m David G. I’m here to tell you what it is like for me to be a new kid in this school, Keys Grade School. I call this blog Day by Day at Keys Grade School or D.B.D.A.K.G.S.

As you know, I’m a student at Keys Grade School. Well, I know you know anyways. Now let’s get back to business. Like I said, I’m here to tell you what’s like in the school for me. It’s hard to get along with people. At times I do get along with people but more often than not, I don’t. If you are wondering if I have friends, YES, I do! And they are not dorks, if that is what you are thinking. Their names, you ask? Well I could tell you one, Nikos Alcazaren, also a fellow blogger. I’m lucky to have a friend like him. To describe him, I would say he is very nice, funny, generous, very happy and playful.

Now to tell you what my other classmates are like, some are funny, some are nice, some are mean, some are o.k. and some are annoying. I remember one incident when I had a fight with one of my classmates because we couldn’t agree on a game which caused an argument a.k.a fracas. But that’s the past and it’s over now.

If you want to know what I am like, I’m funny and especially annoying. I like to do a whole lot of things like sports, cooking, and I can be good in Science and Math. We all blog and some of my classmates make pretty good blog entries. For example, Miguel Manahan. His blog is about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. He has some pretty good stories and tips on playing the game. If you are a Call of Duty fan, you should read it and you would love it.

Well there isn’t much more to say but what I want to happen here in Keys Grade School are:
1. Have more friends.
2. Start fresh.
3. Try and get people to see my good side,
4. Know people more, and
5. Try to be a better person!

Everyone knows each other

Everyone knows each other because Keys is such a small school and there are only 100 something students. Aside from the people you already know, your friend introduces you to another kid. Like my classmate Isabelle introduced me to her friend from another grade who is younger than us.
Another way of knowing more people is when kids from other schools sit-in. Sitting-in is when kids from other schools come and try out classes in Keys to see if they like it here. Every time someone new comes along, we want to know more about him/her by asking what their favourites are.

Like other schools here, you can always bring your own food for lunch but, Keys actually has a lunch program!! The Lunch Program offers meals which most of the kids enjoy, like:

When you try to make a video you would feel real good about it however you might go through really bad problems when making one. So just try to relax and have fun when making a video. It’s fun because you get to act, narrate, and write scripts but it's also hard.. Videos also have bloopers, cool animation, action, and comedy.

There are lots of things you can try. You can be an actor or an actress, a director, a cameraman, a scriptwriter, and a story board writer. This is what each of them do: actors and actresses play their parts. The director tells what the crew does. The cameraman controls the camera to record the film. Scriptwriters try to think what story and dialogues to write then gives it to the actors so they know what to do and say. Storyboard writers draw storyboards to note the actors for each scene.

I have been in a video and it’s fun. First, you are told what to do. Next you try to practice your part. When you can do it in front of the camera, you can record it. When your video is done, plan a movie night. Oh! Here’s the video my class made. Tips: Warning!!! If someone wants to play your part he or she will get mad and both of you will be rivals. Think fast and act fast! Or this will cause both the video and the friendship to be affected so be prepared!

My experience of being part of making a video and acting in it was a bit fun. It was fun because sometimes when you make a mistake during practice, the scene becomes funny. But some people had to go through bad stuff like wearing costumes like a girl jacket for a boy, a Chinese clothes, and in my case, a pink and purple silk cloth. Making a video is awesome. Watching a video, though, is not as awesome as making one because you might miss out on having fun with friends. If you have time in making a video, make some posters so you can look for people who can make videos. It would be nice to ask other people’s help. If you think you have enough people, gather them. Talk about ideas for videos then, if everyone agrees on one topic, make it.

Tip: Put your video in these websites : Youtube or Facebook. But, you need an account to post it in these websites so save it into a disc so you can watch it.

Have you ever heard of GO ANIMATE? Hmmmm… I bet some of you haven’t, so I’m going to tell you something about it.

Well, Go Animate is an AWESOME online site. You can make friends and most importantly make CARTOONS just like in TV. You can also see other people’s cartoons that are members of this site. If you like them so much, you may even be a fan of them. All you have to do is click the word BECOME A FAN on the right side of the video box. Another thing cool about it is if they accept your friend request, you can chat with them. But the best thing about it is that you can make any video that you can imagine of making.

If you are a member of Go Animate you can make your own characters and cartoons. You can choose from different characters like cartoon classics, Star Trek Quogs, Saturday Morning TV, and Akon. Just click the character you pick to make it move and make it do actions. But remember, not all characters are free for you to use. There are others you still need to buy using Go Cash or Go Points.

To be known by the staff of Go Animate, you need to get high ratings from the people and be voted by the staff as top rated video. If you are, you will be at the home page of Go Animate.

I LOVE PHELPS, MICHAEL PHELPS!!! Just in case you don't know him, he is the greatest olympian of all time! He has won a total of 14 gold and 2 bronze medals. In the recent Beijing Olympics, he won 8 gold medals beating the old record of 7 gold medals in one Olympic game. People thought that could not be beaten but he did it.

Like Michael Phelps, I am also a swimmer. When i was really young swimming was my life and i loved it! But, when i reached the age of seven, I started to not enjoy it because every time I would finish swimming, I would get so tired so I did not take it seriously. Then I told my dad that I wanted to quit so I stopped swimming.

In 2008, my dad made me watch the 2008 Olympics on TV. I got inspired with what Michael Phelps did. So I asked my dad if I could start swimming again. I am now part of the Aqualasers Swim Club in the Philippines. I am trying my best to get faster in the water every day. Right now, I am reading the book No Limits by Michael Phelps. I became even more serious about my swimming and also, I got even more inspired by him when I found out that when he was young he would never win a medal!!! He just worked so hard. I like what was written on the back of his book and in fact it's posted on our board so i can see it everyday...

Being a Middle Child isn't bad at all! by Marga Cheng

I'm a middle child and it isn’t that bad. I have an older brother that is 13 years old and a younger sister that is 1 years old. Since I’m 10 years old that makes me in the middle of my sister and my brother.

It's even really fun to be a middle child sometimes. Of course, there are good things and bad things about it but there are mostly good things like:

1.You're never alone! ( you always have company!! )

2. Since you have an older sibling, that older sibling will be able to teach you things ahead of time!

3.You’re not the youngest!

4. It's also fun to be a middle child when you are on trips. You'll never be lonely on trips!

Being a middle child isn’t perfect. There can be some bad parts, too, like:

1. You can sometimes get into fights because of little things with your siblings.

2. You have to share a room with your younger sibling till she or he is old enough to get his or her own.

There aren’t that much bad things for me about being a middle child but being a middle child is not perfect. It wasn’t what I pictured it will be because before I became a middle child I imagined that everything would be the same just with a younger sidling. But, it isn’t like that. Now that I'm a middle child now, I think that it's really more fun than before. Being a middle child is exciting because you know that you'll always have company.

I like SpongeBob SquarePants because it is a funny show. The character is cute and interesting.He is hardworking. He works hard at The Krusty Krab so he can have a better life. If I were Spongebob, I would also work hard so I won’t lose my job. SpongeBob is a person who isn’t scared to try.He tries driving and playing and doing new things. SpongeBob tries what he does best like me.

My favorite episode is “Shanghaied” This is when SpongeBob got trapped in a ship. He was haunted by a ghost. It was scary and funny. I enjoyed it so much.

I suggest you watch SpongeBob because it is a perfect show for kids. It teaches kids to learn lessons about working hard and making friends. I learn and do these lessons in my life.

Hip Hop Music makes me dance because of the beat and rhythm. If you ask me, I love hip-hop music a lot, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like the other music, I like them too.

Hip Hop Music for me is like something bursting inside your heart. It gives you the power to get off your seat and just dance like nobody’s watching. Some people don’t like hip hop music and I ask them “Why?” they just stare at me and say, "It's my type of music." I just don’t get why people don’t like this type of music because the beat is just so great that you can't resist it.

AQ Worlds (AQW) is an online game.There are different
classes and levels. The membership gets you more weapons and armor. The membership lasts for three or six months, and the best is one year. You can buy armor, weapons and do quests and battles. Sometimes I suicide against strong monsters because I am alone. Sometimes I survive.I work with lots of friends to defeat the "Mithril Man 3 times" I win Ninja class rank 7 and level 7. Right now Im dragon slayer and level 12. You can form groups and add up to 20 friends.

The weapons and armor are bought at the shops in most of the towns. Be careful on whom you fight with alone, because I died alone on a monster that had 6000 health.Pets are for members but they dont do much. Events are held only on holidays. The most important thing is to have friends and be with them in a group so when you see a boss, you can summon them. Classes have something that makes it good at it. For example,level dragon slayer finds it easy to kill a dragon kind. There is no goal no win or lose. But there is death for ten seconds.AQW is a mid-evil game a little because of its technology. I like games mostly because I meet friends.

Choosing your Books by Yumi Briones

The key to getting a good book is to know what type of book you will enjoy. These are some good books I recommend to you according to which kind of books you like.

Here are books I recently chose:
-Steal Away by Jennifer Armstrong
-Alfred Hitchcock and The Three Investigators in The Mystery of The Green Ghost by Alfred Hitchcock
-The Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme: The Floating Island by Elizabeth Haydon
-The Egypt Game by Zilpha Keatley Snyder

I really recommend The Green Ghost and The Egypt Game to mystery and adventure lovers. I usually read those kinds of books myself. The Green Ghost really caught my attention when I first laid eyes on it. I needed to browse through The Egypt Game a little before I realized that it was a really great book to read. Both books are really good.

The Green Ghost is about three kids who are investigating strange sightings of a long dead man. The Green Ghost is just one title in a really long (and old!) series.

The Egypt Game is about a group of kids who love the ancient Egypt, and they form a club. But then strange things start happening. Has the game gone too far? The Egypt Game won the Newbery Honor Book Award

I wrote about soccer because I love soccer and also because I like to write about soccer. I was inspired to play soccer because I went to my friend’s house before and played soccer. My friend’s mom told my mom that I was good at playing soccer and friend’s mom told me that I should have soccer lessons so my mom decided that I should have soccer lessons. The first time I played soccer was in Corinthians Football Club or CFC. I was six years old at that time. At first, I was nervous but when I got used to it, I wasn’t nervous anymore.

I like to play soccer because I like to compete with other people. Not only that but I also like to kick. And that’s why my mom enrolled me in soccer lessons. I’ve played soccer in CFC and Xavier School. First I played in CFC until I was seven years old. I stopped playing for a few years then I started playing in Xavier School during the summer. When the school year started I played in CFC again. When I play soccer I feel happy because I got to play. Sometimes I win and sometimes I lose but I still feel happy. When I feel tired when I am playing I just keep playing and after the soccer game I don’t feel tired anymore.

When I go to a soccer lesson the soccer coach always tells us to warm-up first. When we warm-up the coach usually tells us to run/jog around the soccer field or practice passing the soccer ball to each other. Then after we warm-up we usually play a soccer game. There are eleven players in a soccer team. The positions are striker, defender, mid-fielder and goalkeeper. There are three strikers, four defenders, four mid-fielders and one goalkeeper. The goalkeeper is supposed to stay at the goal and not let the soccer ball go inside it. The strikers are supposed to score the goals. The defenders are supposed to defend the goal. And the mid-fielders are supposed to help the strikers and the defenders.

When you play soccer, you always have to play with a team. Teamwork is very important in soccer. You have to pass the soccer ball to each other and plan what to do during the game with your teammates. If you have one teammate missing from your team you cannot play so well because to play as a team in soccer all the teammates have to be there. For example if the goalkeeper is not there someone else in the team has to be the goalkeeper. One time in a soccer tournament we didn’t have a goalkeeper so it was really hard to defend the goal and another member in our team had to be the goalkeeper. Another time in a soccer tournament my team was only younger kids because the older age group was too old for me so I had to be with the younger kids and there were only three other kids who were as old as me. In soccer I learned that if the soccer ball hits you, you don’t have to be afraid because in soccer the ball usually hits the players. I also learned how to move fast and how to do teamwork.

Reasons to play soccer:
1 Soccer helps you move fast, run fast and exercise
2 You learn different ways on how to handle the soccer ball like kicking
it or hitting it with any other part of your body except your hands
3 Soccer helps you make friends
4 If you are angry and you want to kick someone you can kick a soccer ball
instead of kicking a person
5 If you play soccer it is easy to learn how to play other sports

I like my life at Keys because I like to learn new things and play games with my classmates. Life in Keys is not that hard but sometimes it also is because we have to do a lot of projects, homework, and we write a lot. I also like Keys because I have nice classmates like Yumi, Sofie, Bella and all my other classmates. Keys also has a lot of subjects such as Math, Social, Writer’s, Science, HELE and CLE.

In Keys, we do a lot of projects like the Science fair project. We also did a documentary on migration. Keys also has nice people. They always help my classmates and me. I have been in Keys since Grade 2. Every year in Keys we always have performances. This year we had a culminating activity. It was during this time where we showed our video on migration.

We also had a curriculum night. This is where we shared our lessons to our parents. In class almost all subjects have group activities. My teacher groups us and we work together as a team to answer it.

Speaking of teachers, now I will talk about them. They are Teacher Jai and Teacher Camille. T. Jai teaches science and math. T. Camille on the other hand teaches literacy, social studies and word study.

I think that Keys is a good school. I always learn something new everyday. I like all the teachers and school staff. I also like my classmates. Here are some of my experiences: Class starts at eight o clock. Every Friday we could wear casual clothes. We also have parties and we also play games. I also have many friends.

Do you think Keys is a good school? I definitely think so!

Modern Warfare 2 by Miguel Manahan

Modern warfare 2 is a great game that you will enjoy a lot. It has great action, cool guns, good graphics, and nice level. You will see some familiar faces from the first game, Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. But there is a level you can decide to skip it or not. There is even a special ops, which are some levels that you can do it alone or by multiplayer. And you can play online where you can kill other players. You can also add some attachments to your gun. Tips on playing
1) Don’t stay close to cars that are on fire, they will blow up.
2) If you see a line of men with shield, throw a flash bang and shoot them all down.

One of my personal experiences is in the first level s.s.d.d , (I don’t know what that means) but it starts in a weapons demo. But I can’t tell you guys because I am going to spoil the whole level.

What's really unfair about my life is that I'm ALLERGIC to the yummiest thing ever! CHEESE!! If you ask me why I don’t think I have to answer that... FINE!! I'll explain it to you. It's just that every time we go to a pizza restaurant, my family always order pizza and they keep on saying "it's soo GOOD!!" AND THAT JUST MAKES ME WANNA TRY THAT PIECE OF BREAD FULL OF MELTED CHEESE AND WITH TANGY PEPPERONI!

So.. just let me say that.. EVERY SINGLE HUMAN IN THIS WORLD LOVES CHEESE!! Except for people like me. And, just to prove it, I gave my classmates and teachers a survey that says "Who LOVES cheese and who's not that into cheese"
and out of 25 people, I was the only one one the "not that into cheese "

Let me explain what's in cheese that I can't eat -- it's the casein.
And if you're wondering if I could drink milk, Yes. Yes I can but I drink a different kind of milk.

Before, my Tita said I wasn't allergic to cheese so I ate LOTS AND LOTS of Doritos with cheese and after a while, my eye was smaller than the other so I went to my Tita and said "TITA!! YOU SAID I WASN'T ALLERGIC ANYMORE!"

Go animate is a cool and fun website for everyone. In this site, you can make your videos based on your own stories very interesting. There are many backgrounds, music, speech bubbles, props and special effects that you can use. You can make your characters do cool things like run, jump, talk and cry. You can get other pictures from different sites like your family pictures from your Facebook.

Go animate is easy to use. All you have to do is click the item you want from Go animate bar and drag. You can learn how to animate in just one week using this site. I found out about it from my cousin. I enjoy Go animate because it’s fun to make videos and create your own characters. I experienced that you can rate the video if you like it or not. I’ve done several videos and my favorite was Naruto vs Sasuke. It’s about them fighting each other. In one sequence, Sasuke teleported behind Naruto then attacked him. Naruto was being beaten up by Sasuke until Naruto was knocked out. When I make videos, I use different effects like explosions and fighting sounds. This makes my videos more exciting.

I recommend Go animate to all of you because it’s extremely fun! You can create any video that you imagine

I first found out about plants vs zombies from the k-zone magazine. Plants vs zombies is a tower defense game. In the game the thing you have to do is stop zombies from “eating your brains” with the help of plants, of course. The plant which you start with is the peashooter (it shoots peas, by the way). There are other plants too, offensive or defensive just like the zombies. Plants come from seedpacks, which you can get by finishing levels or buying them from Crazy Dave (after getting the “magic taco”). Also, you can only plant plants if you collect enough sunlight. Click the sunlight to get it.

Here are 2 cheats. Type future for zombies from the future. Then type mustache for a mustache! Also, you can have a zen garden where you can take care of plants. You can also play mini-games, puzzle and survival mode.

I like plants vs zombies because it is fun and not so violent. Oh I forgot. Here is a tip: at the start, put 3 sunflowers at the back row.

A zombie should come. Then, put a potato mine at the lane the zombie comes from .then while waiting for the explosion , put 2 more sunflowers at the back. Keep [not the sunflower thing] doing that until 2 zombies [at the same time] come. You’ll have enough sun to have 4 pea shooters [or 2 repeaters or, never mind.]
